
GIFTED INTERNSHIP
The Gifted Internship Program, is a program that is the result of the combined effort of the Fulton County education system and the professional business community.
It is designed to provide our high school juniors and seniors with an in-depth view into career areas of their choice.
The Career Internship Program is designed to provide students with basic career awareness and exploration and to introduce them to working professionals and a professional atmosphere in their communities.

How to Apply
The Application for Gifted Internship will be made available in December with a due date in January.

Requirements

Student must be a rising Junior or Senior
-
Student must have an unweighted GPA of 90 or higher
-
Student is enrolled in the FCS Gifted Program
-
Student must have room in schedule to take Internship course

Internship Placement
Student will meet with a County Career Advisor to discuss internship placements and begin the placement process

Gifted Internship is a class where Juniors and Seniors are placed in professional internships with local professionals under a variety of career umbrellas.

Internships are unpaid. The student receives GA High School Graduation Credits for their efforts in lieu of financial compensation.
​
Internships are semester long. Students will be encouraged to explore a different internship and/or career field each semester.
​
Students can participate in up to four internships, two during their junior year and two during their senior year.
​
Internship is a class and students MUST have room in their academic schedule to take the Internship class. It cannot be a “zero” period or lunch period.
​
Internships can either be for one or two periods during the school day. One-period internships are referred to as single internships (requiring 70 hours of field time) and two-period internships (requiring 140 hours field time) are referred to as double internships.

Students must provide their own transportation to and from the internship site.
